Woman Shot Dead by Husband in Faridabad Over Divorce Dispute

In a tragic incident in Faridabad’s Sunlight Colony, Basantpur village, a 30-year-old woman, identified as Sangeeta Devi, was shot dead by her estranged husband on Friday night amid an ongoing divorce dispute. The couple’s divorce case was pending in court, and Sangeeta had been living separately with her two children when the incident occurred.

Sequence of Events

The accused arrived with some family members at the area where Sangeeta was walking around 8 pm, leading to a heated argument between them. Her husband allegedly pulled out a weapon and fired three shots, hitting her with two bullets. Neighbours rushed out after hearing the gunfire, but the husband fled the scene immediately.

Medical Aid and Police Action

Sangeeta was rushed to a private hospital in Sector 31 by locals and her father, but doctors declared her dead-on arrival. The police have registered a murder case at Palla police station and formed teams to track down and arrest the accused, who is reportedly a native of Bihar.

Investigation Underway

Police said the killing likely stemmed from the ongoing family dispute and divorce proceedings. A post-mortem examination has been ordered, and further investigation is in progress as authorities search for the suspect.
