Fatal BMW Crash on Mumbai-Vadodara Highway Claims Two Lives in Badlapur

Badlapur: Two people lost their lives after a BMW car met with an accident on the Mumbai–Vadodara Highway near Badlapur in Maharashtra on Sunday. Police have registered a case against the driver of the BMW in connection with the accident.  Visuals from the accident site showed the damaged vehicle and emergency personnel working in the area. Authorities are collecting evidence and recording statements as part of the probe.

Car lost control near Eranjad

According to preliminary information, the BMW was travelling from Titwala towards Badlapur when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle near the Eranjad area. Reports suggest the car had reached a speed of around 251 kmph moments before the crash.

After hitting the divider, the vehicle reportedly overturned multiple times and skidded across the road. The impact was so severe that the luxury car was completely destroyed. The victims have been identified as Yogesh Dighe and Rebecca Jacob, both of whom died at the scene due to the severity of their injuries.

A third occupant, identified as Anand, suffered serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Thane.

Eyewitnesses describe horror scene

Witnesses who were present near the highway described hearing a massive explosion-like sound after seeing the BMW speeding through the area several times. One eyewitness claimed the vehicle passed at high speed twice before a loud crash was heard during its third run. The force of the impact was so intense that debris from the car was scattered across a wide stretch of the road.

Returning from birthday celebration

Initial reports indicate that the occupants were returning to Badlapur after attending a birthday celebration on Saturday night when the accident took place. Police and forensic teams reached the spot soon after receiving information and began collecting evidence from the crash site.

Authorities have registered a case of accidental death and launched a detailed investigation into the incident. Forensic experts are examining the wreckage, while police are working to determine the exact cause of the crash.

Some local residents have speculated that alcohol may have played a role, but officials have not confirmed this claim. Investigators say the findings of forensic examinations and official reports will determine what led to the fatal accident.
