“Financially empowered woman is maker of modern India”: Ajaita Shah shares her story on PM Modi’s ‘X’ handle

New Delhi: Ajaita Shah, the Founder and CEO of Frontier Markets, took over Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s social media accounts on Saturday to mark International Women’s Day. In her post, she emphasized that a financially empowered woman is the architect of her own future and plays a crucial role in shaping modern India.

Ajaita shared the story of Frontier Markets, which she founded in 2011, focusing on integrating technology to promote the skilling and financial inclusion of women. “A financially empowered woman is a confident decision-maker, independent thinker, and the maker of modern India. I am truly honored to handle PM @narendramodi Ji’s social media today on #WomensDay,” she wrote on X.

Ajaita highlighted her passion for addressing the challenges women face in rural areas, such as financial barriers and lack of infrastructure. She shared that she has dedicated the last two decades to overcoming these challenges and is proud to see more women rising to create change. “In 2011, I founded Frontier Markets with the belief that if we support rural women, no force can stop them from achieving the impossible,” she added.

She also mentioned that, in recent years, there have been significant discussions about improving women’s access to banking, social security, healthcare, and sanitation, making it easier for them to pursue their dreams and contribute to society. “Our focus has always been on using technology to ensure the skilling and financial inclusion of women. You would be amazed at how easily India’s women are adapting to technology,” she said.

Ajaita also spoke about her initiative, the “Meri Saheli App,” which harnesses tech and AI to help rural women become entrepreneurs. “The app has allowed the world to recognize the strengths of women in areas like agriculture, healthcare, consumer durables, and financial literacy,” she explained.

She encouraged all women to actively participate in the country’s progress, saying, “India is becoming an influential market with an innovative spirit, and women’s participation will only make this journey stronger. I urge all women to be part of the India story. My own experience tells me that the sky is the limit. Be self-reliant and create a better future for the next generation.”

Prime Minister Modi thanked the women achievers for their contributions to society and the vision of a “Viksit Bharat.” He highlighted the inspiring journeys shared by women across India and stressed that the determination and success of India’s “Nari Shakti” remind us of the immense potential women hold. “Today and every day, we celebrate their contributions in shaping a Viksit Bharat,” he said.

This initiative follows PM Modi’s earlier announcement to hand over his social media platforms to inspiring women on Women’s Day, allowing them to share their experiences and work with the public.
