Firing in Ludhiana Wedding; Two Feared Dead, Several Injured

Ludhiana: Two groups clashed at a wedding ceremony late last night in Ludhiana, Punjab. One group opened fire on the other. Reports indicate that two people were killed and five to seven others were injured in the exchange of fire. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed.

The injured have been admitted to DMC and other private hospitals. It is reported that the wedding ceremony was taking place at Bath Castle Palace on Pakhowal Road.

Police arrived at the palace upon receiving reports of gunfire. However, by then the shooters had fled. It is being reported that two gangsters had arrived at the wedding ceremony and had an argument. Madan Lal Bagga, MLA from the North constituency, was also present at the time of the incident.

A dispute between two gangster groups is suspected.

It’s being reported that the wedding was in the family of a swing contractor. The local MLA was also present at the ceremony. Gangsters Shubham Mota and Ankur Ludhiana were also present. Sources indicate that an altercation between two gangster groups over an old dispute escalated into a scuffle within minutes. This was followed by firing. 20 to 25 rounds are likely to have been fired.

According to sources, Neeru Chhabra, a relative of the contractor, was seriously injured in the firing. She was taken to Global Hospital on Ferozepur Road late at night, where doctors pronounced her dead. The second deceased has been identified as Vasu Chopra, although the death has not yet been officially confirmed.

Some guests attending the ceremony were also injured in the sudden gunfire.

The injured were admitted to nearby hospitals. Several political figures, including Vasu Chopra and JK Davar, were present at the ceremony. The firing led to a stampede-like situation.

Upon receiving information about the incident, police teams arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, and began an investigation. According to officials, the exact motive behind the firing and the exact number of dead and injured will be officially confirmed soon. Security has been increased in the area.
