    Uttarakhand: Firing at police during checking, accused arrested

    Rishikesh: A young man from Haryana opened fire during a routine checking by the Uttarakhand police. According to the police, when the suspicious vehicle was signaled to stop, the driver panicked and ran towards the Kali temple.

    When chased, the accused abandoned the car and entered the forest and opened fire on the police team. However, the police surrounded him and arrested him on the spot.

    Car hit a pillar, then tried to escape
    The incident occurred during checking under “Operation Prahar.” An attempt was made to stop a suspicious Swift Dzire car coming from Ranipokhari, but the driver began to flee.

    While fleeing, his car went out of control and hit a roadside pillar near the Kali temple. The accused then ran towards the forest and opened fire.

    Illegal Weapons and Fake Number Plates Recovered
    Police arrested the accused, Imran (22), a resident of Nuh (Mewat), Haryana. A search revealed a 315-bore pistol, live cartridges, and spent cartridges.

    The police also seized a car with a fake license plate and its original license plate.

    He had come with the intention of stealing the vehicle
    During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had previously stolen a dumper truck from Rishikesh and was planning another vehicle theft. To avoid arrest, he had installed a fake license plate on the car.

    The police have registered a case against the accused and are searching for his absconding accomplice and recovering the stolen dumper.
