Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has claimed that the United States put the security of its regional allies at risk “for the sake of Israel”, accusing Washington of disregarding their interests.

In a post on X, Ghalibaf said US actions had pushed regional partners to a point where their “entire existence” was briefly at risk.

“The United States put the security of every single one of its allies at such risk through bullying and pure disregard for their interests for the sake of Israel that they briefly saw their entire existence on the line,” he wrote.

Iran Claims Neighbours Seeking New Security Arrangements

Ghalibaf further claimed that Tehran had received messages from neighbouring countries exploring the possibility of establishing new security arrangements and economic cooperation in the region.

“We’ve received numerous messages from neighboring countries about shaping new security arrangements and economic cooperation in the region,” he said.

Calling for greater regional autonomy, Ghalibaf said a “homegrown, independent order” would be necessary to deliver peace and security.

Rubio Meets Omani Ambassador

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Oman’s Ambassador to the United States Talal Al Rahbi in Washington, DC, to discuss issues of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation.

According to a statement shared by the Oman Embassy on X, the meeting took place on the sidelines of an event organised by the US Department of State at the United States Institute of Peace.

The two officials discussed the longstanding partnership between Oman and the US and the need for continued coordination on shared regional challenges.

Strait of Hormuz Tensions Remain High

The diplomatic engagement comes amid heightened tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, particularly over navigation and discussions between Oman and Iran on maintaining safe commercial shipping routes.

The development follows remarks by US President Donald Trump, who warned Oman against interfering with Washington’s position on the strategic waterway.

During a phone call with Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst, Trump discussed the situation with Iran as a 60-day memorandum of understanding signed in June, aimed at opening negotiations to end the conflict in West Asia, approached its deadline.

Asked about parallel talks between Iran and Oman concerning the Strait of Hormuz, Trump warned that the US could take military action if Oman obstructed Washington’s efforts.

Trump also called on Iran to “raise the white flag of surrender” while saying he was not working with a fixed timeline.

The statements come amid continuing tensions between Tehran and Washington and growing diplomatic activity involving countries in the region.
