Gujarati Businessman Shot Dead in US, 19-year-old Daughter Witnesses Incident

Mehsana: A 62-year-old Gujarati businessman from Mehsana’s Aakhaj village was shot dead inside his store in Jackson, Tennessee, USA, with his 19-year-old daughter present during the incident, a village resident said.

The deceased was identified as Suresh Parsottamdas Patel. He had been living in the United States for nearly 30 years and had reportedly started a new business in Jackson City just a week before the incident.

Masked assailant enters store

According to a resident of Aakhaj village, a masked assailant entered Patel’s store on the night of August 20 and allegedly stole cash from the drawer before shooting him.

The attack left Patel dead at the spot.

Aakhaj resident Dinesh Suthar said the news of Patel’s death had cast a pall of gloom over the village.

“Suresh Parsottamdas Patel, a native of Aakhaj village who had settled in the United States around 30 years ago, was shot dead in Jackson, Tennessee,” Suthar said.

He added that Patel had lived in Chicago for a long time before starting his new store in Jackson City.

Daughter witnesses shooting

Recalling the incident, Suthar said the accused was wearing a mask, jeans and a T-shirt when he entered the store.

“On the night of August 20, 2026, a robber wearing a mask, jeans and a T-shirt entered his store. The accused first stole dollars from the cash drawer and then shot Suresh Patel, killing him on the spot,” he said.

Suthar further said Patel’s 19-year-old daughter was nearby throughout the incident and witnessed the horrifying episode.

The incident has left residents of Aakhaj deeply concerned, with anxiety growing in the village following news of the shooting in the United States.
