Gunfire outside House in Ludhiana’s Jagraon linked to Old rivalry; two held, four on the run

Ludhiana:  Panic gripped Sherewal village in the Sidhwan Bet area of Ludhiana late last night after unidentified assailants opened fire outside a local resident’s home, allegedly over an old enmity. While two of the six accused have been arrested, the remaining four are currently absconding.

The incident occurred around 12:20 AM when Baljeet Singh, the homeowner, was alerted by his pet dog’s incessant barking. Upon stepping outside to investigate, he saw a group of 5–6 men gathered outside. As he raised an alarm, the suspects fired shots in the air, triggering commotion in the neighborhood.

Local residents quickly emerged from their homes, prompting the miscreants to flee the scene in their vehicles. No injuries were reported.

Following a preliminary inquiry, Baljeet Singh identified two of the attackers as Gagandeep Singh alias Gaggi of Khurlapur village (Jalandhar) and Shinder Singh of Akkuwal village in Sidhwan Bet. Both were reportedly accompanied by four unidentified individuals.

According to Sukhmander Singh, in-charge of the Gidderwindi police post, a case has been registered against all six individuals. Two suspects have already been taken into custody and produced in court. Authorities confirmed that multiple criminal cases are already pending against Gagandeep Singh.

A police hunt is underway to track down the remaining accused.
