Patiala, Punjab: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s wife, Gurpreet Kaur Mann, said she is prepared to face the allegations against her after the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took cognisance of claims that she allegedly sought ₹5 crore to suppress a rape case.

Reacting to the allegations, Gurpreet Kaur Mann said making accusations was easy but warned those making statements against her to verify their facts or face legal action.

Gurpreet Kaur Mann challenges opponents

“It is easy to make allegations and make baseless statements, but I am fully prepared to face all such allegations firmly. I was not afraid before, and I am not afraid today,” she said.

She challenged her opponents to first establish the facts before making allegations against her.

“I challenge my opponents that if anyone is making statements against me, they should first correct their facts, otherwise they should be prepared for legal notices and legal action,” she added.

NHRC takes cognisance of allegations

The remarks came after the NHRC took cognisance of allegations concerning the alleged demand of ₹5 crore for suppressing a rape case.

The allegations against Gurpreet Kaur Mann are being disputed by her, and she has categorically denied any wrongdoing. She has said she is ready to face the allegations and take legal action against those making what she described as baseless claims.
