Haldwani Gang Rape Case: 10th-Grade Student Assaulted After Being Given Alcohol

Haldwani: A case of gang rape of a 10th-grade student after giving her alcohol has come to light in Haldwani. According to reports, two young men living in the Kathgodam police station area lured the girl into a car and took her to a deserted forest on Haidakhan Road where they committed the crime

The police acted swiftly and arrested both accused and seized the car used in the incident. SP City Manoj Katyal stated that the incident occurred around 6:30 pm on February 24th. A 10th-grade student from Kathgodam had gone out to buy groceries from a shop near her home.

Meanwhile, Mohit (20) and Pradeep (24), residents of Almora (Danya), who were renting a house near her house, met her. They lured the 15-year-old student into their car on the pretext of taking her for a ride and drove her towards Haidakhan Road.

Lured to Drink Alcohol, then Raped Inside Car

It is alleged that the two youths took the student to a secluded location, threatened her, and forced her to drink alcohol. Once the girl became intoxicated, the two accused took turns gang-raping her inside the car.

When the student did not return home till late night, the family members raised an alarm and informed the Kathgodam police.

Searching with torchlight, student found unconscious in car

Upon receiving the information, the police and family members launched a search operation on Haidakhan Road. Around 10:30 pm, the police found a suspicious car parked on the roadside. When they approached, they found the student lying unconscious inside the car, and the two accused were also present.

Police immediately detained the accused and took the student to the hospital. After conducting a medical examination, the victim was released to her family. A case has been registered against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and gang rape.

On Wednesday, the police produced Mohit and Pradeep in the court, from where they were sent to jail in judicial custody.
