Blow to drug trafficking: Over 12 kg of heroin recovered in joint op by ANTF and BSF in Amritsar

A major success has been achieved once again in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking in Punjab. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Punjab, Border Range, in a joint operation with the BSF (Border Security Force), foiled an attempt at international drone-based drug smuggling.

The operation was conducted near Dalleke village in the Lopoke police station area of ​​Amritsar district. According to reports, security agencies received specific intelligence regarding suspicious drone activity in the border area. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, ANTF and BSF teams launched a search operation in the area.

12 kg 50 grams of heroin recovered from the fields

During the search, the teams recovered approximately 12 kg 50 grams of heroin from near the fields. The recovery of such a large quantity of narcotics clearly indicates that smugglers are continuously attempting to supply drugs into Punjab from across the border using drones.

FIR registered, investigation begins

An FIR is being registered under the relevant sections in this case, and a preliminary investigation has been launched. Investigating agencies are now working to connect the dots of the network behind this smuggling operation using technical evidence and human intelligence. Efforts are being made to determine who ordered the narcotics, where they were to be delivered, and who all were involved.

No place for drug traffickers
Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav stated that the Punjab Police is fully vigilant and committed against drug trafficking via drones. Strict action is being taken continuously to dismantle the drug networks operating in the border areas. He clearly stated that there is no place for drug traffickers in Punjab and those who play with the future of the youth will not be spared under any circumstances.
