11 kg of heroin seized from a field by BSF; consignment delivered via drone

11 kilograms of heroin were recovered during a joint operation by the BSF and Punjab Police in the area bordering India and Pakistan. Preliminary investigations reveal that smugglers had transported this large consignment of heroin from Pakistan into Indian territory using a drone and had concealed it in a field. The police have registered a case against unidentified smugglers and initiated an investigation.

SSP Surendra Lamba stated that Sub-Inspector Vipan Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Valtoha Police Station, had received information that certain local smugglers were in contact with Pakistan-based smugglers via WhatsApp calls and had arranged for a large consignment of heroin to be delivered via drone.

Acting on this information, the BSF and the Valtoha police conducted a joint search operation in the border area.

During the search, a plastic bag and several loose packets were recovered from the field of Jaswinder Singh, a farmer and resident of village Lakhna. Upon examination, the packets were found to contain a total of 11 kilograms of heroin.

The SSP remarked that the recovery of such a large quantity of heroin through the joint efforts of the BSF and Punjab Police represents a significant success for security agencies. A case has been registered against unidentified smugglers under the NDPS Act at the Valtoha Police Station. Investigations are underway to determine the intended recipient of the consignment and its planned onward destination. Efforts are also being made to identify the individuals involved in this smuggling network.
