Heroin worth ₹35 crore seized in Amritsar; smuggler arrested with 5 kg consignment

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Amritsar Rural Police have arrested a smuggler. Police recovered 5 kg 28 grams of heroin from the accused, with an estimated international market value of approximately ₹35 crore. This marks one of the largest seizures in recent times.

Following the operation conducted by the Gharinda police team, a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the law. The police are now investigating the source of the heroin and the areas where it was intended to be supplied.

During the investigation, the police are also examining the roles of other individuals linked to this illicit network. Officials stated that no one involved in the drug trade would be spared, and strict legal action would be taken against them.

Police Action Under Anti-Drug Campaign

The Amritsar Rural Police clarified that this operation is part of the ongoing anti-drug campaign being conducted under the directives of the Punjab Government and Police Headquarters. The police aim to make society drug-free and protect the youth from the grip of drug abuse.

Appeal to Report Drug Sales

The police have also appealed to the general public to immediately report any information regarding drug trafficking or the sale of narcotics in their vicinity. Effective curbs on this illegal trade can only be achieved through public cooperation.
