The Counter-Intelligence Wing of the Punjab Police in Ferozepur has arrested four smugglers in a major crackdown against a drug trafficking network operating from Pakistan. Authorities recovered 28.12 kilograms of heroin and drug money amounting to ₹9.5 lakh from the possession of the accused. The value of the seized heroin is estimated to be approximately ₹140 crore in the international market. This operation was carried out in the Guruharsahai area of Ferozepur.

Module Operated by Smugglers and Handlers Based Abroad
Preliminary investigations have revealed that this module was in contact with smugglers and handlers based abroad. The accused were tasked with retrieving consignments of heroin sent across the border and distributing them to various parts of India.
According to the police, the arrested individuals had been associated with an international drug trafficking network for a considerable period. Investigating agencies are now tracing the forward and backward linkages of this network with the aim of dismantling the entire syndicate. Further arrests and seizures are anticipated in the coming days.

The Punjab Police stated that strict action against cross-border smuggling and the drug trade will continue unabated. The police reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy has been adopted against drug trafficking in the state, and no accused individual will be spared.
