Police have arrested a youth on charges of sedition in Paonta Sahib of Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh. On May 27, police had registered a case against Suleman, a resident of Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, under the section of sedition. As soon as he got the news of the case being registered, the accused fled from here. As soon as he returned on Sunday, he was arrested. He will be produced in court on Monday.
According to the police, Suleman, who has a vegetable cart in the Badripur area of Paonta, had posted on social media with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan of Pakistan Zindabad along with pieces of a broken ship. Apart from this, he had posted using language that incited religious sentiments.
The accused is said to be a resident of Abdullahgarh in Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. Paonta Sahib DSP Manvendra Singh Thakur said that a case has been registered against Suleman under section 152. The matter is being investigated thoroughly.
