The police in Ludhiana have taken major action against those involved in the illegal gas refilling business. Following the exposure, the local police also became aware of the matter and raided Ganesh Nagar Road.

Many cylinder refillers fled before the police raid, but some were caught. Acting on a tip from an informant, police from Division No. 2 conducted a raid and arrested two suspects who were stealing gas from domestic gas cylinders, refilling it into unmarked cylinders, and selling it at high prices.

Tip-Off Leads to Raid in Ganesh Nagar

Acting on a tip-off, a police team was patrolling the area. A special informant reported that a man named Mohammad Absar had rented a shop in Ganesh Nagar’s Street No. 10 (House No. 1222).

There, he and his partner Anjil Alam were allegedly running an illegal business of extracting gas from domestic cylinders and filling it into small and unmarked cylinders.

Accused Arrested, Equipment Seized

Based on the information, the police immediately raided the given address and caught both the accused red-handed. The police recovered several items from the spot, including one big gas cylinder (Indian brand), one small cylinder, four refilling nozzles, and a gas weighing scale (batta).

The accused have been identified as Anjil Alam, a resident of Janakpuri, and Mohammad Absar, a resident of house number 1064, street number 7, Janakpuri.

Considering the seriousness of the matter, police of Station Division No. 2 have registered a case against both accused under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS 2023). Police are now trying to determine where the accused obtained the domestic cylinders and who else they are connected to.
