Mumbai: India cricket team defeated England national cricket team by seven runs in a high-scoring semifinal of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on Thursday to secure a place in the final, where they will face New Zealand national cricket team on Sunday.

Playing at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, India posted a formidable total after being asked to bat first. The innings was powered by a blistering knock from Sanju Samson, who scored 89 off 42 balls, anchoring India’s batting and putting pressure on the English bowlers.

In reply, England mounted a strong chase, led by an outstanding century from Jacob Bethell, who kept his side in contention with an aggressive innings. However, India’s bowlers managed to hold their nerve in the final overs.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya delivered a crucial spell, picking up key wickets and slowing England’s scoring rate during the death overs, helping India defend their total.

Despite a spirited fight from England’s middle order, the side fell just short of the target, finishing seven runs behind in a thrilling contest.

With the victory, India advance to the tournament final scheduled for Sunday, where they will take on New Zealand in what promises to be a highly anticipated clash for the T20 World Cup title.
