Infiltration bid foiled on J&K LoC, two terrorists killed

Srinagar: The joint security forces on Sunday foiled an infiltration bid on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, killing two intruding terrorists.

Infiltration Bid Foiled in Keran Sector

Sources said the alert joint forces foiled the infiltration attempt on the LoC in the Keran sector of the district.

“The operation is still going on in the area. The alert troops noticed suspicious movement along the LoC after which the anti-infiltration operation was launched,” sources said. More details were awaited.

Revised Anti-Terror Strategy After Operation Sindoor

After the suspension of Operation Sindoor, security forces have been carrying out aggressive operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and sympathisers.

This revised strategy aims not only at neutralising armed terrorists but also dismantling the wider ecosystem of terror.

Focus on Narco-Terror and Hawala Rackets

Security agencies are also targeting drug smugglers, peddlers, and hawala operators, since funds generated through these channels are believed to sustain terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

24/7 Vigil on LoC and International Border

The Indian Army and the Border Security Force (BSF) are maintaining round-the-clock vigil on the LoC and the International Border (IB) to thwart infiltration attempts ahead of winter snowfall.

Jammu and Kashmir has a 740-km-long LoC guarded by the Army and a 240-km-long IB guarded by the BSF.

LoC Spread Across Multiple Districts

The LoC passes through Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts in the Valley, and Rajouri, Poonch and parts of Jammu district in the Jammu division.

Drones Used by Terror Outfits

Terrorist outfits operating from Pakistan, with support from the Pakistani Army, also use drones to drop arms, ammunition, cash, and drugs across the border.

In most cases, these consignments are collected by OGWs for terrorists. The BSF has deployed anti-drone systems that have significantly reduced such attempts across the International Border.
