The record of 114 runs partnership made by Jason Gillespie and Glenn McGrath for the 10th wicket against New Zealand in Brisbane was broken. This stand was Australia’s sixth 100-run or more partnership for the 10th wicket in Test cricket. The defending champion of the ICC World Test Championship did not have a very good start in this match but the team scored a total of 383 runs in its first innings.

It was Green’s unbeaten inning of 174 runs that took Australia to a strong total. The young all-rounder played a patient innings in the final over of the day, completing his second Test century.

Then, on Friday, he took an aggressive approach with Hazlewood. This was Green’s second century in Test cricket. Earlier last year, he had played an inning of 114 runs for Australia against India in Ahmedabad.
