Balochistan: The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), a prominent human rights organization, reported on Monday that Balochistan is increasingly affected by forcible abductions, detentions, and disappearances conducted under the guise of security. According to a post on X, there have been sixteen recent cases of disappearances in Gwadar attributed to the Frontier Corps.

BYC stated, “In Balochistan, the practice of enforced abductions, detentions, and disappearances under the pretext of security has become a daily occurrence for law enforcement agencies.” The recent disappearances in Tehsil Pasni, Gwadar district, exemplify the paramilitary violence and aggression faced by ordinary Baloch individuals.

The committee also shared specific details about those who were abducted on social media. Furthermore, they highlighted that when the families of the disappeared held protests and blocked the highway seeking answers, the police responded with excessive force, impacting women and children who were “tragically harmed and abused.” Despite this, the victims’ families managed to maintain their peaceful protests at Pasni’s Zero-Point. BYC urged the paramilitary forces and police to refrain from excessive force against these suffering families in such harsh weather.

The organization called on Baloch residents and the wider nation to support the victims’ families, demand justice, and amplify their voices.

Balochistan faces ongoing challenges, including state repression, enforced disappearances, and extrajudicial killings of activists and civilians. The region also suffers from economic neglect, characterized by inadequate development, poor infrastructure, and limited political autonomy. Earlier, BYC organizer Mahrang Baloch underscored the dangers in Balochistan by citing the abduction of a Baloch woman, Asma Baloch, emphasizing that it remains one of the most perilous areas for human rights.
