Balochistan: The prominent human rights organization, Baloch Yakjehti Committee, recently drew attention to the alarming increase in extrajudicial killings, torture, and mutilation of Baloch individuals. In a post on X, the committee reported the case of two Panjgur residents, Shukrullah and Nadeem Baloch, who were taken into custody by Frontier Corps personnel. Shukrullah’s mutilated corpse was discovered two days later, while Nadeem was found severely injured in the Surab area.

The organization expressed concern for the victims’ families, who have reportedly faced threats and intimidation from intelligence agencies to keep silent and proceed with the burial without raising alarms, in order to avoid further reprisals. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee issued a strong call to action against these extrajudicial killings and the ongoing ‘kill and dump’ policy, stating that the frequent discovery of mutilated bodies highlights an ongoing ethnic cleansing and genocide targeting the Baloch people. They urged the global community to condemn the state’s rampant violence.

On a related note, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee had mentioned earlier that cases of forced abductions, detentions, and disappearances continue to rise in Balochistan under the guise of security measures. In one recent incident in Gwadar, sixteen individuals went missing in a matter of days, reportedly at the hands of the Frontier Corps.

Balochistan grapples with multiple challenges, including state repression, enforced disappearances, and the extrajudicial killings of activists, scholars, and civilians. The area suffers from chronic economic neglect, lacking in development, basic infrastructure, and political autonomy. Previously, concerning the abduction of a Baloch woman named Asma Baloch, BYC organizer Mahrang Baloch asserted that Balochistan remains one of the most perilous regions regarding human rights violations.
