Jalandhar: Massive fire breaks out inside house, a mentally challenged girl died

A fire broke out in a house in Vijay Nagar on Monday night. The fire spread rapidly within minutes due to the PVC sheets covering the room. When the fire broke out, a mentally ill 30-year-old girl was sleeping in the room, who died due to the fire.

According to information, when the family came to know about the fire, they immediately called the fire brigade and police from Fire Station 4 and started controlling the fire themselves. Three fire brigade vehicles reached the spot and managed to control the fire after much effort. However, by the time the fire was controlled, there was a loss of life and property.

fire due to short circuit 

It is suspected that the fire was started due to a short circuit. It is being said that a woman named Simrat Kaur lived in this house with her two daughters. She was present in the house on Monday night, when a fire broke out due to a short circuit. The walls of the room were covered with PVC sheets, and the fire spread rapidly due to the plastic and engulfed the entire room in no time.

Meanwhile, the toxic fumes of PVC and the fierce fire did not give Rubika any chance to escape. On receiving information, a team from Police Station 4 reached the spot and started an investigation.

The police took possession of the body and kept it in the morgue. Anu, in-charge of Station 4, said that her team has started an investigation into the matter, and appropriate action will be taken based on the statements of the family.
