Jalandhar Police Weapon Recovery Turns Violent; Accused Fires At Police, Injured In Retaliatory Action

Jalandhar: Jalandhar Police Commissionerate has taken major action against accused persons allegedly involved in an attempt to open fire in the Model Town area of Jalandhar. During a weapon recovery operation, one of the accused allegedly pushed a police official to the ground and fired at him, following which the official fired in self-defence, injuring the accused.

As per the directions of Commissioner of Police Jalandhar Shri Satinder Singh, IPS, and under the supervision of Shri Aditya S. Warrier, IPS, DCP (City), Jalandhar; Shri Manpreet Singh Dhillon, PPS, DCP (Investigation), Jalandhar; Smt. Madhavi Sharma, PPS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police-2, Jalandhar; and Shri Manmohan Singh, PPS, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Model Town, Jalandhar, dedicated police teams took action against the accused involved in the firing attempt and apprehended them.

The Investigating Officer of Police Station Division No. 06, Jalandhar, ASI Raj Masih, arrested the accused involved in the firing attempt, namely Sukhjinder Singh alias Prince, son of Balwinder Singh, resident of Village Kakke Kandiala, Police Station City Tarn Taran, and Sahjdeep Singh, son of Baljinder Singh, resident of Village Kakke Kandiala, Police Station City Tarn Taran, on September 10, 2026, in accordance with the law.

Accused Opens Fire During Weapon Recovery

During interrogation, accused Sukhjinder Singh alias Prince disclosed that the pistol allegedly used in the firing attempt had been concealed in the ground near a bridge while they were leaving the spot.

On the identification of the accused, a police party, along with Investigating Officer ASI Raj Masih, reached the spot to recover the weapon/pistol.

During the recovery proceedings, the accused allegedly took out the pistol concealed in the ground and suddenly pushed ASI Raj Masih to the ground before firing at the police official.

ASI Raj Masih narrowly saved himself, while the bullet fired by the accused struck the wall of the bridge.

Thereafter, in self-defence, ASI Raj Masih fired at the accused with his service pistol, during which Sukhjinder Singh alias Prince was injured. The injured accused was immediately shifted to Civil Hospital, Jalandhar, for treatment.

Jashanpreet Singh To Be Arrested

Another person allegedly involved in the conspiracy, Jashanpreet Singh, son of Major Singh and resident of Village Kakke Kandiala, was not present with the other accused on the day of the incident but was allegedly involved in the conspiracy. Police said he will be arrested shortly.

During the investigation, Daljit Kaur, wife of Major Singh and resident of Village Kakke Kandiala, Police Station City Tarn Taran, was arrested in accordance with the law for allegedly providing shelter to Jashanpreet Singh. She is the mother of the accused.

Three Arrested, Weapon Recovered

Arrested accused:

1. Sukhjinder Singh alias Prince, son of Balwinder Singh, resident of Village Kakke Kandiala, Police Station City Tarn Taran.
2. Sahjdeep Singh, son of Baljinder Singh, resident of Village Kakke Kandiala, Police Station City Tarn Taran.
3. Daljit Kaur, wife of Major Singh, resident of Village Kakke Kandiala, Police Station City Tarn Taran, and mother of the accused.

Recovery dated September 10, 2026:

• One magazine
• One live .32 bore round
• One empty cartridge case of a fired .32 bore round
