25-Year-Old Biker Dies After Falling Into Construction Pit in West Delhi’s Janakpuri

New Delhi: A 25-year-old man died after his motorcycle fell into an open pit in West Delhi’s Janakpuri area, police said on Friday. The pit had been dug for construction work and was left uncovered.

The accident happened late at night when the man was returning home from work.

Victim Identified as Kamal

The victim was identified as Kamal, a resident of Kailashpuri. He worked in Rohini and was riding back home when the incident took place.

Kamal was last in contact with his family while on his way home.

Family Searches Through the Night

When Kamal did not return home and his phone became unreachable, his family grew worried. They began searching for him and visited several police stations in West Delhi.

The family claimed they went to nearly a dozen police stations during the night but did not receive any clear information.

Body Found in the Morning

At around 7:30 am, police informed the family that Kamal’s body had been found. His motorcycle was also recovered from a deep pit at Joginder Singh Marg, near Green Valley Apartments.

Police said construction work was going on at the site and a pit had been dug on the road.

No Warning Signs or Barricades

Initial reports suggest that the pit was not properly covered. There were no barricades, warning signs, or lights at the spot.

It is believed that Kamal lost control of his motorcycle in the dark and fell into the pit, suffering fatal injuries.

Safety Concerns Raised

The incident has raised serious concerns about public safety. Local residents said that construction sites in the area are often poorly marked, especially at night.

Such open pits on busy roads pose a major risk to commuters.

Police Begin Investigation

Police have registered a case and started an investigation. Officials are checking whether safety rules were followed and if negligence was involved.

The family has accused the concerned departments of carelessness and demanded strict action.
