Kamaljeet-Suruchi Top 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team Qualification, Enter Final At Asian Games

Nagoya: India’s Kamaljeet and Suruchi Singh stormed into the final of the 10m air pistol mixed team event at the Asian Games after topping the qualification round with a score of 587.

The Indian duo delivered a strong performance in the qualification round, finishing ahead of Iran, South Korea and Indonesia to secure a place in the medal round. Their score of 587 also equalled the qualification Asian record and set a new Qualification Games Record.

India Top Qualification With 587

Kamaljeet and Suruchi began with a score of 196 in the opening series. They followed it with 195 in the second series, taking their overall tally to 391 with 20 shots remaining.

The Indian pair produced another 196 in the final series to finish with 587 points, including 29 inner 10s. Only the top four combinations advanced to the final.

Iran finished second with 584 points, followed by South Korea with 582 and Indonesia with 580.

Indian Duo Eye Medal After Individual Setback

The strong qualification performance comes after both Indian shooters missed out on the individual finals. Kamaljeet finished ninth in the men’s 10m air pistol qualification, while Suruchi placed 26th in the women’s event.

India had also missed out on a medal in the men’s and women’s 10m air pistol team events, making the mixed-team final an important opportunity for the country in the discipline.

Kamaljeet Replaced Kedarling In Mixed Team

Kamaljeet was brought into the mixed-team combination in place of Kedarling Balakrishna Uchaganve after the individual qualification results. Kamaljeet had scored 580 to finish ninth in the men’s qualification, while Kedarling finished 35th with 568.

The Indian pair will now compete in the final against Iran, South Korea and Indonesia for the medals.
