I can no longer live: Kanpur Girl commits suicide after getting 92% in Class 10th examination

In Kanpur, at Shivalik Bhawan in Panaki Ratanpur, 16-year-old student Vaishali Singh took her own life on Thursday evening by hanging herself, deeply distressed over receiving lower-than-expected marks in her High School examinations. She had aspired to score over 95 percent in High School, whereas she secured 92 percent. She had been despondent ever since the results were declared on Wednesday.

Before taking this drastic step, the student had sent voice recordings to some of her friends via her mobile phone. In these recordings, she expressed that she had lost the will to live and voiced her apprehension that the money spent on her upbringing and education would go to waste. The police have seized the student’s mobile phone for investigation and have sent her body for a post-mortem examination.

Prince Dropped Out of Studies Years Ago
Vaishali was a Class 10 student (CBSE Board) at the Kendriya Vidyalaya located in Armapur. Her immediate family consists of her mother, Kajal, and her 19-year-old brother, Prince. Her father, Virendra Singh, a private sector employee, passed away two years ago. Kajal worked at a mall located in the P-Road area. Her brother, Prince, dropped out of his studies a few years ago and currently stays at home.

Vaishali’s Body Found Hanging
Kajal stated that she had gone to the mall on Thursday. Between approximately 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM, she called her daughter multiple times, but the calls went unanswered. She then asked Prince to go to the room and get his sister to speak with her. When Prince entered the room, he screamed in horror upon finding Vaishali’s body hanging.

Suicide Attributed to Stress
Upon receiving the information, the police and a forensic team arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation. Panaki Inspector Manoj Singh Bhadauria confirmed that the preliminary findings suggest the student committed suicide due to stress. Her mobile phone has been taken into custody for analysis, and further action will be initiated once a formal written complaint is received.

Voice message sent to friends 
Before taking her own life, the student sent a voice recording to some of her peers. In it, she says, “I can no longer go on living… I have become a living corpse… I no longer have the will to live. I am terrified… My mother is spending so much money on me… I fear that her money might go to waste.”
