Landslide on Pathankot-Bharmour highway, vehicular movement halted

A landslide occurred last night on the Pathankot-Bharmour National Highway connecting Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. A large portion of the mountain near Bati Haati in Bharmour in Chamba district fell on the road at around 2 am last night. This completely stopped vehicular traffic, and the road remained unpaved for several hours.

The landslide has caused long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road, in which a large number of vehicles of locals as well as tourists have been trapped.

On the other hand, people are trying to cross the Ravi River to reach their destinations. It is worth noting that a large number of tourists from Punjab use this road to reach tourist destinations like Bharmour, Dalhousie, Khajjiar, Dharamshala, etc. There are reports of a high number of tourists due to the weekend, and they are now waiting for the road to reopen.
