Mumbai: Ahead of International Women’s Day, actress and environmentalist Diya Mirza shared an inspiring message emphasizing the importance of recognizing women’s rights, strengths, and the power of women supporting each other. Speaking at an event, Diya stated, “Every woman should be recognized for having the right to reach her full potential, and nothing should ever stand in her way. Women supporting women can truly help make this a reality.”
She also talked about how the decisions women make often come from a place of love and how this quality should influence everything they do. She recalled a thought-provoking statement by Merill Streat, saying, “In a world designed by men, women start speaking like men. It’s important, therefore, for women to discover and celebrate their unique strengths, recognizing that much of what they do is driven by love, which should flow into everything they do.”
International Women’s Day, celebrated annually on March 8, takes on special significance this year, marking the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action—an essential framework for advancing the rights of women and girls globally.
Diya, known for her strong presence on social media, also shared a video with the caption, “Becoming the woman I was meant to be.”
On the professional front, Diya made her film debut in 2001 with Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, alongside R. Madhavan and Saif Ali Khan. She has since appeared in numerous films, including Deewaanapan, Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge, Parineeta, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, Sanju, and Thappad. She was last seen in the 2024 road drama Dhak Dhak and the Netflix series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack.
