New Delhi: Day after Bharti Airtel’s agreement, Reliance Jio Platforms Ltd (JPL) has announced a partnership with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to provide Starlink’s satellite broadband services in India.
The agreement is subject to regulatory approval for SpaceX to sell Starlink in the country.
Jio will distribute Starlink solutions through its retail outlets and online platforms, offering equipment, installation, and activation support. The partnership aims to expand Jio’s high-speed internet services, particularly in remote areas, complementing its existing JioAirFiber and JioFiber networks.
Earlier yesterday Bharti Airtel sighned pact with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to offer high speed internet to million of subscribers in India.
Jio and SpaceX are also exploring additional areas of collaboration to enhance India’s digital infrastructure. “Ensuring that every Indian, no matter where they live, has access to affordable and high-speed broadband remains Jio’s top priority,” said Mathew Oommen, Group CEO of Reliance Jio.
Gwynne Shotwell, President and COO of SpaceX, praised Jio’s efforts and expressed optimism about obtaining government approval. “We look forward to working with Jio, Airtel and expanding access to Starlink’s high-speed internet,” he said.
