As tensions escalate between India and Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called off his three-nation tour in Europe, officials revealed on Wednesday, May 7, 2025.
This is to be noted that Prime Minister was scheduled to travel to Croatia, Norway and the Netherlands from May 13 to 17, 2025. He was scheduled to visit Norway and attend the Nordic Summit.
However, the visit has been called off, the sources revealed. They said that the sources have been informed about the decision.
Prior to this, PM Modi has cut down his visit to Saudi Arabia and returned India immediately after the Pahalgam Terror Attack. PM Modi further also decided to not to travel Moscow to attend the victory day celebrations of Russia scheduled on May 9, 2025.
The decision to suspend his visit to Europe comes amid increased volatility along the line of control following India carried out precision missile strikes on nine high-value terror targets across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK).
This decision described the operation as a calibrated military operation aimed at dismantling terror infrastructure without escalating border hostilities.
About Operation Sindoor
Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces in retaliation against the Pahalgam Attack that took place on April 22, claiming the lives of around 26 people. The operation was launched at 1:44 am on Wednesday. It was a joint effort by the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, and Army Navy.
These strikes were closely monitored through the night by Prime Minister Modi, who has been in constant contact with the commanders and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval.
The Government further reiterated that “our actions have been focused, measured, and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani Military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and execution.”
This government has kept its poromise— those responsible will be held accountable, said India in a recent statement.
