Ludhiana: The Ludhiana Rural Police on Thursday night launched a demolition drive at the residence of a woman from Narangwal village after a video of her openly admitting to supplying drugs went viral on social media.

The viral video, which surfaced earlier this week, showed the woman engaging in an argument with villagers, during which she openly confessed to drug peddling.

Following public outrage, the police took swift action and reached her house with a JCB machine to carry out the demolition.

Authorities stated that the crackdown was part of an ongoing drive against drug networks in the region. “We are committed to eradicating the drug menace and taking strict action against those involved in illegal activities,” a senior police official said.

Further investigations are underway to determine the extent of the women’s involvement in drug trafficking and any potential links to larger networks.

Meanwhile SSP Ludhiana Rural Ankur Gupta while speaking with the media said that  an FIR has been launched against them and three persons have been arrested by the police which includes the women, her husband and  another person who supplies drugs to them.

He also said that one suspect was initially arrested, and based on his statements, a husband and wife were also taken into custody.

He also issued a warning to people involved in this and said that the Punjab police is working on toes to erase drug menace from the state and will act tough against the people involved in it.

“The accused was already facing three FIRs and their illegal property was identified and it has been demolished.”

Meanwhile, the village sarpanch, Manjinder Singh, stated that the accused had been causing distress to the local residents. He expressed gratitude to the Punjab government for taking action against them.

Earlier this week the Punjab government took significant steps and ordered tough action against the people involved in drug smuggling in the state.
