Bhimtal: On Tuesday morning, a leopard was found trapped in a cage set up in the forest in Bhimtal’s June State area. During a routine patrol, the forest department team inspected the cage and found the leopard trapped inside. The team acted swiftly and safely rescued the leopard and sent it to the Ranibagh Rescue Center. An investigation is currently underway to determine whether the captured leopard is a man-eater.
Success achieved during routine patrol
The forest department had already set up a cage in the area. When the team arrived on the scene for a routine inspection on Tuesday morning, they found the leopard trapped in the cage. Subsequently, higher officials were informed, and as per the prescribed procedure, the leopard was safely rescued and transported to the Ranibagh Rescue Center via vehicle.
Crowd of villagers, appeal to not go towards the forest
As news of the leopard’s capture spread, villagers from nearby areas began arriving in the forest area. In view of the situation, the Forest Department has appealed to people to remain vigilant and not go towards the forest. Surveillance in the area has also been increased for safety reasons.
Investigation into man-eating status continues
According to Forest Department officials, it is not yet clear whether the captured leopard is a man-eater. Records related to its past behavior and activities are being examined. The situation will become clear only after a detailed investigation.
