Lucknow University Professor Taken Into Custody Over Alleged Exam Paper Leak Call

Lucknow: An assistant professor at the University of Lucknow was taken into custody after allegedly calling a final-year B.Sc. student and claiming he had arranged leaked examination papers for her. The accused, identified as Dr. Paramjit Singh from the Department of Zoology, was detained by police from the university campus and taken to Hasanganj Police Station.

According to the complaint, the professor allegedly pressured the student to return early from leave before her examination. In an audio recording that surfaced online, the professor can allegedly be heard telling the student, “Darling, I have arranged for the exam paper to be leaked for you. Come back before the exam; I will give you the paper here.”

Audio Recordings Surface During Investigation

Two audio clips related to the case have reportedly surfaced. In one recording, the professor allegedly asks the student to meet him before the examination and claims to have leaked papers for both the main and elective subjects.

After the call ends, the student is allegedly heard saying that she did not want the leaked paper and feared the professor wanted to harass her again. In another recording, the accused can allegedly be heard telling the student that he was emotionally attached to her and asking her not to betray him.

University Launches Inquiry

The university administration has initiated an internal inquiry into the matter following the emergence of the recordings. Police have also received a formal complaint and are investigating allegations related to examination malpractice and harassment.

Officials said further action will depend on forensic examination of the audio clips and statements recorded during the investigation.
