Ludhiana: Akali Leader, Nephew Arrested After AAP Leader Alleges Harassment Outside Home

Ludhiana: On Sunday, police in Khanna a town in Ludhiana arrested Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Hardeep Singh, alias Honey Rosha, and his nephew, Karan Rosha. The arrests stem from a scuffle that broke out during victory celebrations following the municipal council election results.

In connection with this incident, Pradeep Kumar, alias Sonu Johar the defeated candidate from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) filed a complaint with the police. The complaint alleges that Honey Rosha arrived in front of the complainant’s residence to celebrate his victory.

During this time, he set off firecrackers and played obscene songs right outside the house. When confronted, he allegedly incited his supporters to physically assault the residents and mistreated the complainant’s pregnant sister-in-law. CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced.

It is reported that Honey Rosha is a close associate of senior Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Badal. Conversely, the complainant, Sonu Johar, is considered a close aide of AAP leader and Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sondh.

Rosha Won Municipal Council Election

According to reports, on May 29, Honey Rosha won the election for the post of Councilor in the municipal council from Ward-30 in Khanna. He contested against Sonu Johar, who suffered a defeat.

In his complaint, Johar stated that after winning the election, Honey Rosha, accompanied by his family members and a large number of supporters, was celebrating his victory within his ward. During these celebrations, they proceeded to celebrate outside the residence of the defeated AAP candidate, Pradeep Kumar (Sonu Johar).

Allegation: Obscene Songs Played Outside AAP Candidate’s House

According to the complaint, the individuals present during the celebrations set off firecrackers and played obscene songs directly in front of the defeated candidate’s house. It is alleged that when Sonu Johar’s family members objected to this, they were subjected to arguments and verbal abuse. Subsequently, the perpetrators barged into the house and launched an attack.

Allegations of Misconduct and Assault Against Pregnant Sister-in-Law

Sonu Johar has also alleged that his family members were physically assaulted. He stated that Honey Rosha and others mistreated Sonu Johar’s pregnant sister-in-law. When she protested, they physically assaulted her.

Police Register Case Based on CCTV Footage

CCTV footage of the incident has also surfaced, based on which the police have registered a case. The City Police Station (Khanna) has registered a case under various sections against more than two dozen individuals—including Honey Rosha, his son, two nephews, and other family members—based on the complaint and the CCTV footage.

The police arrested Honey Rosha and his nephew, Karan Rosha, this morning. Meanwhile, the search for the remaining accused is ongoing. Police officials stated that further legal action would be taken based on the investigation into the matter.

City Police Station SHO Sukhwinderpal Singh stated that, based on the complaint filed by Pradeep Kumar (alias Sonu Johar), an investigation was conducted, leading to the arrest of both accused individuals.

Sukhbir Badal Had Also Attended Karan’s Wedding

It is worth noting that Honey Rosha’s wife, Talwinder Kaur Rosha, has served as a Councilor twice. She contested the elections this time as well but was defeated. This time, Honey Rosha was elected as the Councilor. Sukhbir Badal is also a frequent visitor to Honey Rosha’s residence. Karan Rosha got married a short while ago; Sukhbir Badal had attended that ceremony as well.

Minister Backed Complainant’s Ticket

Meanwhile, the complainant, Pradeep Kumar (alias Sonu Johar), belongs to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He is considered a close associate of Cabinet Minister Tarunpreet Singh Sondh. It is said that it was the Cabinet Minister himself who first fielded Sonu Johar by granting him a ticket.
