Ludhiana Woman Lured Through Online Gaming Friendship, Assaulted in Car; Mobile Phone and Gold Bracelet Robbed After Resistance

Ludhiana: A friendship forged through online gaming in Ludhiana has turned into a nightmare for a young woman. It is alleged that the young man, after gaining her trust, secretly took compromising photographs of her. Subsequently, the accused began blackmailing the woman by threatening to circulate these images.

The victim alleges that the young man molested and physically assaulted her. Furthermore, he snatched away her mobile phone and a gold bracelet. Upon receiving a complaint regarding the incident, the police at the Haibowal police station registered a case against the accused under various serious sections of the law and have initiated an investigation. The police formally recorded this action on May 29, 2026.

Blackmail Threats Using Social Media Images

A woman from Haibowal, Ludhiana, alleged that she became friends with a man named Taran Kumar through online gaming. Over time, he began meeting her in Ludhiana and allegedly behaved inappropriately inside his car and secretly took compromising photos of her. She also claims he accessed and saved private images from her Facebook account and later threatened to circulate them online to blackmail her.

Given the gravity of the matter, Inspector Kulwant Kaur of the Haibowal Police Station took immediate action and registered a case against the accused, Taran Kumar. The police have filed charges under Section 66-E of the IT Act (Violation of Privacy), as well as Sections 75, 304, 351(2), and 62 of the new BNS legislation. The police state that teams are being dispatched to Jalandhar and other locations to apprehend the accused. The accused will soon be behind bars.
