Elderly Woman Injured After Chain Snatching Outside Hospital in Ludhiana

Ludhiana: Incidents of snatching in Ludhiana show no signs of abating. A case of chain snatching involving a woman has been reported outside Deep Hospital in the Model Town area. The unidentified accused fled the scene immediately after committing the crime. The police registered an FIR in this case nine days after the incident occurred.

When the snatchers yanked the elderly woman’s chain, she sustained injuries to her neck. The elderly woman required four to five stitches for her injuries. A major question arising here is the complete absence of CCTV cameras outside the hospital premises. CCTV footage captured outside a nearby sweet shop merely shows two individuals riding away on a motorcycle. The police are currently working to identify these suspects.

The Crime Occurred Immediately Upon Leaving the Hospital

According to the complainant, Tarang Bindra a resident of Patiala he had visited Deep Hospital in Ludhiana on April 19, 2026, along with his mother, Pramod Bindra, to facilitate the discharge of his maternal uncle. As soon as he and his mother stepped out of the hospital and his mother was about to get into their car, two miscreants arrived on a motorcycle and snatched the gold chain weighing approximately 2.5 ‘tolas’ that she was wearing around her neck. The snatchers pulled the chain with such brutality that his mother’s neck was left bleeding profusely. She subsequently required four to five stitches to treat the injury to her neck.

Gold Chain Snatched from the Neck

The accused suddenly snatched the gold chain weighing approximately 2.5 ‘tolas’ from his mother’s neck and immediately fled the scene on a motorcycle along with his accomplice. The Model Town Police Station has registered a case against the unidentified accused under Section 304 of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). The police are currently examining CCTV footage from the surrounding area in an effort to identify the culprits.
