Ludhiana: A case of cow slaughter has come to light late last night in the forests adjacent to the Sirhind Canal near Garhi Pul in Machhiwara. On receiving information, Shiv Sena and Gau Raksha Dal workers reached the spot. Frightened by this act, the accused tried to crush them with their vehicle and fled from the spot.

Meat and sharp weapons were recovered from the spot

DSP Samrala Tarlochan Singh, Machhiwara police station in-charge Pavitar Singh, and Samrala police station in-charge Harvinder Singh reached the spot with a heavy police force. During the search operation, the police recovered a large quantity of meat and sharp weapons. A large ditch was also found at the scene, which probably contained the heads and remains of cows.

Police investigating the case

DSP Tarlochan Singh said that the police are also investigating whether meat was buried in the surrounding area earlier. The police have registered a case under relevant sections against the absconding accused and have started raids.
