10 arrested in Ludhiana firing case; contract killing ordered from US: Police

Ludhiana: Police have arrested ten people in connection with a firing incident that took place at a farmer’s house in Chak Lohat village, Ludhiana, on July 29. The victim, Jaspreet Singh, was shot five times and seriously injured. He is currently stable and out of danger.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Jyoti Yadav, the attack was not related to any land dispute, as initially suspected. Instead, investigations revealed it was a contract killing ordered by Sarabjit Singh alias Sabi, a native of Nawanshahr who is currently residing in the United States. The motive was a personal rivalry involving Jaspreet’s brother.

All ten arrested are linked to an interstate criminal network with members from Punjab and Haryana. Police say the group is associated with the Sonu Khatri gang, which has previously been involved in extortion and firing incidents across the region.

Police have recovered weapons, ammunition, and a vehicle used in the attack. A manhunt is underway to locate other members of the gang who remain at large.
