Ludhiana Missing Girls Case: Women’s Commission Chairperson unhappy with Ludhiana Police report

The case of the sudden disappearance of about a dozen girls from Ludhiana in a month has been heating up continuously. The commission’s chairperson Rajlali Gill, is dissatisfied with the report sent by the Ludhiana police in response to the notice of the Punjab State Women’s Commission.

The police report states that the missing girls had left home on their own. According to the report, four girls have been handed over to their parents, while three have been traced.

What Police said in the report?

In the remaining cases, most of the girls are said to be from other states. The chairperson of the women’s commission expressed dissatisfaction over the report. She strongly warned the police officials that this is a serious and sensitive matter related to the safety of minor girls. They should not make the mistake of taking it lightly as a common incident.

The chairperson said that several important details are missing in the report submitted by the police. The report does not provide a clear picture of the current state of affairs. She said that the commission is committed to ensuring justice for each affected family and ensuring that the cases reach a just conclusion.

In a video released by Ludhiana Police, ADCP R.S. Bhullar said that the matter was exaggerated on social media, which created confusion among the people. Women’s Commission Chairperson Raj Lali Gill also shared the video on her Facebook page. The police report argues that most of the girls who went missing from Ludhiana belong to families that migrated from other states. Initial investigation has revealed a pattern, which suggests that these girls were not victims of any kidnapping gang but had left home on their own. The report also said that four girls have been found safe and have been sent back to their parents, while three others have been traced.

What Women’s Commission Chief Raj Lali Gill said?

Raj Lali Gill has completely rejected the police’s argument of “going voluntarily”. She says that when the victim’s parents are still searching for their daughters, the police cannot give such incomplete explanations. The commission has directed the Ludhiana police to resubmit detailed case-by-case reports for all the cases. The police have sought three to four days’ time for this.
