Shiv Sena Functionary Escorted to Safety After Confrontation With Nihangs

Ludhiana: Tension prevailed in Ludhiana on Monday morning when Shiv Sena Punjab chairman Rajeev Tandon’s pilot vehicle was stopped by some Nihang Singhs. The incident took place near Friends Regency, where a sit-in was being staged by various Sikh groups against social media influencer Chetan.

Meanwhile, Rajiv Tandon, who was passing by, was identified in his pilot car. After this, some protesters stood in front of the vehicle and started shouting slogans. The policemen present at the spot tried to handle the situation, after which additional teams of CIA-1 and local police also reached the spot.

The police dispatched Rajiv Tandon’s convoy from there under security cordon. After the incident, Rajiv Tandon has described it as an attempt to kill himself.

According to the information, Rajiv Tandon was going towards his office on Monday morning. Meanwhile, his pilot car reached near the protest site near Friends Regency. Some Nihang Singhs present there stopped the vehicle and started shouting slogans in protest.

According to eyewitnesses, there was a tense situation at the spot for some time. Police officials immediately intervened and brought the situation under control and prevented any untoward incident from taking place.

Tandon said – I was attacked with murder.

On the other hand, Rajiv Tandon alleged that an attempt was made to attack him. He said the situation could have been serious if the police had not intervened in time.

A few days ago, Rajiv Tandon had shared a post on social media demanding strict rules on carrying a kirpan in public places. Since his remarks, controversy has persisted. At present, the police are investigating the entire incident.
