Elderly Shopkeeper Robbed of ₹25,000 in Ludhiana, Injured by Five Assailants; Two Accused Absconding

Ludhiana: In Lalton Kalan, a 65-year-old elderly grocery shopkeeper was surrounded by five miscreants who brutally attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, leaving him severely bloodied, before looting approximately ₹25,000 in cash from his shop and fleeing the scene.

Based on the statements provided by the elderly victim, the police have registered a case against two named individuals and three unidentified accused persons under serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Currently, all the accused remain at large.

Sohan Singh recounted that as he proceeded past Mansuran and reached the area situated between Lalton Kalan and Jheda villages, he was intercepted on the road by a group of approximately five youths who had been lying in ambush. Before he could even comprehend the situation, the miscreants launched a life-threatening assault upon him using sharp-edged weapons. The attackers subjected him to a severe physical beating and snatched the cash amounting to between ₹20,000 and ₹25,000 that he was carrying.

Two Robbers Identified as Fellow Villagers

After committing the crime, the accused fled the scene. The victim, Sohan Singh, informed the police that he had recognized two of the attackers. Both individuals are residents of his own village, Mansuran, and have been identified as Kinder and Jaggi. He stated that he does not know the remaining three youths involved in the incident.

Investigating Officer (IO) Satnam Singh confirmed that a case has been registered at the Sadar Police Station based on the victim’s statements. Raids are currently being conducted to apprehend the accused. He assured that the accused would be arrested very soon and the looted cash would be recovered. The police are also scouring CCTV footage of the area to identify the unknown accused.
