Youths Brutally Assaulted in Ludhiana After Being Mistaken for Snatchers; Bikes Damaged, 9 Booked After Police Confirm Innocence

Ludhiana: The youths in Ludhiana who were beaten late Thursday night by a group of people—who mistook them for snatchers—have been cleared of any wrongdoing following a police investigation. The police have now registered a case against the individuals who surrounded and assaulted these youths. The Dugri police station has booked nine individuals under various sections of the law and has initiated an investigation into the matter.

According to the complainant, approximately 35 to 40 youths were present at the location. The accused individuals had already surrounded Manish (alias Mota) and Abhi (alias Lucky) and were severely beating them. When the complainant and his companions arrived, the accused attacked them using sharp-edged weapons. During the incident, several motorcycles were also extensively vandalized.

Forcibly Taken to Police Station on False Accusations of Robbery

The victims alleged that their attackers forcibly took them to the Dugri police station, falsely accusing them of being robbers. During the course of the investigation, the police have arrested some of the accused individuals, while a search for the others remains underway.

Case Registered Against These Accused Individuals

The police have apprehended Manjit Singh (resident of Ambedkar Model Town), Gunna Singh (resident of Ambedkar Nagar Model Town), Bhupinder Verma (resident of Guru Nanak Nagar, Shimlapuri), Manjot Singh (resident of Laxman Nagar), Manveer Singh (resident of Vishal Nagar), and Krishna Mehta (resident of Ambedkar Nagar Model Town). Meanwhile, the search continues for the remaining accused, including Harpreet Singh, Jagroop, and Mauli. The Dugri Police Station has registered a case against the accused under Sections 115(2), 126(2), 324(4), 191(3), 190, and 351(2) of the BNS. The police state that a thorough investigation into the matter is underway and that the absconding accused will be arrested shortly.
