Major Blow to Drug Trafficking: 10 kg of heroin seized in Amritsar; 2 smugglers arrested

The Amritsar Police have achieved a major breakthrough in their ongoing campaign against drug trafficking. Acting against an alleged cross-border drug smuggling network, the police seized 10 kg of heroin and arrested two individuals.

The seized heroin is estimated to be worth crores of rupees in the international market. Police state that this operation has dealt a significant blow to the drug trafficking network active in the border region.

Arrests Made Based on Secret Information

According to the police, the Amritsar Rural Police launched a special operation in the Gharinda police station area following a tip-off. During the operation, two suspects were arrested, and 10 kg of heroin was recovered from their possession. Preliminary investigations reveal that the consignment had allegedly been smuggled into India from across the border and was intended for distribution in Punjab and other states.

Case Registered Against the Accused

A case has been registered at the Gharinda police station under the NDPS Act. The police are interrogating the arrested individuals to identify other members of the smuggling network and investigate potential international connections. Additionally, all forward and backward linkages of the network are being thoroughly examined.

Investigation Underway to Expose the Network

Police officials state that the operation will not be limited to the arrest of these two individuals alone; the investigation is ongoing to fully expose the drug trafficking network. Concurrently, surveillance and search operations in border areas have been intensified to thwart any future smuggling attempts in a timely manner.
