Major fire breaks out at SBI branch in Amritsar; documents, furniture burnt to ashes

A sudden fire broke out at the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in the crowded Katra Jamal Singh Market in Amritsar this morning, causing panic. The fire was so fierce that furniture, documents, and other belongings inside the bank were reduced to ashes within minutes.

According to sources, the cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit. No employee was present in the bank at the time, so there was no loss of life. Local residents saw the smoke and immediately informed the fire department.

Three fire tenders reached the spot, and after much effort, the fire was brought under control. Fire officials said that the fire started on the first floor of the building and gradually spread. The fire was brought under control in time, averting a major accident.

Currently, teams from the police and fire departments are present at the spot and an investigation is underway to find out the exact cause of the fire.
