McDonald’s Licence Cancelled in Mumbai, Unsafe Food Products Worth Rs 11.66 Crore Seized in UP

New Delhi: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has intensified its crackdown on sellers of unsafe food products, with the campaign reaching Uttar Pradesh after action in Maharashtra.

In Uttar Pradesh, unsafe food products worth Rs 11.66 crore have been seized during a major crackdown on adulteration and food safety violations. The action was carried out under the supervision of FDA Commissioner Dr Roshan Jacob.

Crackdown on Food Adulteration in UP

According to the report, a large-scale campaign against adulterators was conducted across Uttar Pradesh. A total of 3,537 inspections and 2,075 raids were carried out, with 2,965 samples collected for testing.

During the action, food products worth around Rs 11.66 crore were seized. Unsafe and adulterated food products worth Rs 63.17 lakh were also destroyed.

The action was aimed at identifying establishments involved in selling unsafe and adulterated food products and preventing them from reaching consumers.

McDonald’s Licence Cancelled in Mumbai

Meanwhile, Maharashtra’s Food and Drug Administration has cancelled the licences of seven major restaurants, including McDonald’s, following inspections and alleged food safety violations.

The action followed inspections carried out at several establishments, with authorities finding serious irregularities.

The FDA has also taken action against establishments in cases related to adulterated ghee and paan masala.

71 Establishments Get Notices in Maharashtra

In another major action, the Maharashtra FDA inspected 89 hotels, restaurants and eateries in Raigad on August 19 and 20.

Serious deficiencies were found at several establishments. As a result, 71 establishments were issued improvement notices, while the licences of 13 establishments were suspended.

The inspections were conducted as part of the food safety department’s ongoing campaign against violations and the sale of unsafe food products.

Authorities have indicated that further action will be taken against establishments found violating food safety norms.
