Drug Smuggling via Soft Toys in Amritsar: Customs Seizes 25 kg MDMA at Airport, Shipment Traced to Cambodia via Malaysia

Amritsar: The Customs Department has achieved a major breakthrough at Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport in Amritsar. Customs officials arrested a passenger and recovered over 25 kilograms of suspected narcotics. This operation was conducted based on APIS profiling.

Smuggler Arrived in Amritsar via Kuala Lumpur Route

According to reports, the passenger arrived in Amritsar from Cambodia via Kuala Lumpur on flight number MH-118. Acting on suspicion, Customs officials intercepted the passenger and subjected his luggage to a thorough inspection. During X-ray scanning and a physical search, officials discovered a large quantity of tablets concealed inside four soft toys.

The total weight of the recovered tablets is reported to be approximately 25.25 kilograms. Preliminary investigations suggest that these tablets are suspected to be Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)—a narcotic substance prohibited under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Investigation into International Drug Smuggling Network Intensifies

The Customs Department has seized the recovered contraband, and the accused passenger has been arrested under the NDPS Act. Further investigations into the matter are currently underway. Officials state that the probe is being expanded to identify other individuals linked to this network and to trace the entire smuggling route. This operation by Amritsar Customs is being hailed as a major success in the fight against international drug trafficking.
