Narendra Modi: Infra boost now Modi’s guarantee in Uttarakhand

PM Modi inaugurated the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway corridor on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, he remarked that there was a time when generations would pass in the villages of Uttarakhand while waiting for a road. Today, thanks to the efforts of the “double-engine government,” roads are finally reaching the villages. Villages that had once become deserted are now being repopulated.

He further stated that if one views this through the lens of national life asking what constitutes the nation’s lines of destiny, they are our roads, highways, airways, railways, and waterways. These are not merely amenities for the present day; they serve as our guaranteed Modi’s guarantee to the generations to come. Over the past decade, our government has been investing in these vital arteries of the nation. From the Char Dham Yatra to every other aspect of development, these lines are becoming the very lifelines of the region.

The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Corridor is a 213-km-long, 6-lane, access-controlled corridor constructed at a cost of ₹12,000 crore. It connects Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand; with its commissioning, the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun will be reduced from 6 hours to approximately 2.5 hours.

Earlier, the Prime Minister held a 16-kilometer-long roadshow in Dehradun. He arrived in Dehradun at 11:00 AM and departed from there for Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, where he conducted a roadshow. Subsequently, he also inspected Asia’s longest 12-kilometer elevated wildlife corridor—built along the expressway—which spans the stretch between Dehradun and Saharanpur.
