Welcome Actor Mushtaq Khan Dies at 56 After Cancer Battle

Mumbai: Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his memorable supporting and comic roles in Hindi cinema, died on Thursday at the age of 56 after battling cancer. His death was confirmed by his business partner Shivam.

Mushtaq Khan’s Cancer Relapsed Recently

According to his business partner, Mushtaq Khan had earlier been diagnosed with lung cancer and had recovered. However, the disease reportedly relapsed recently, after which he was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai. He passed away around 7 pm on Thursday.

Reports said Khan had been undergoing treatment after his condition deteriorated. The actor’s death was also confirmed by representatives of the film industry.

Remembered for Welcome, Gadar and Comedy Roles

Mushtaq Khan worked in Hindi cinema for more than four decades and became a familiar face through his supporting and character roles.

He appeared in several popular films, including Aashiqui, Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke, Raja, Hera Pheri, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Jodi No. 1, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Welcome, Wanted, Oh My God!, Stree, Gadar 2 and Stree 2.

Mushtaq Khan’s Iconic Role in Welcome

Khan is particularly remembered for playing Ballu, a loyal associate of Uday Shetty in the 2007 comedy Welcome. His comic timing and memorable dialogue about his artificial leg became one of the film’s most recognisable moments.

His work also extended to television, where he appeared in shows including Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi. His death marks the loss of a familiar supporting actor whose performances remained part of several popular Hindi films across generations.
