Kolkata: Tension has erupted in Nandigram, East Midnapore district, following the discovery of the body of Mahadeb Bishoyi, a 52-year-old local Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader, under suspicious circumstances. Bishoyi was known for his active involvement in the TMC at the Gokulnagar village panchayat.
On Thursday morning, his body was found in front of his food stall, showing multiple injury marks. According to TMC workers, he had been abducted while returning home after closing his stall. When he didn’t return overnight, his family and fellow party members began searching for him.
The police quickly arrived at the scene and took possession of the body for a post-mortem examination. TMC leaders have accused the BJP of being behind Bishoyi’s murder, claiming it was motivated by political vendetta. They are demanding that those responsible be held accountable.
In response, Sukanta Majumdar, the BJP’s West Bengal President and Union Minister of State, has denied these claims, suggesting that infighting within the TMC could be a factor in Bishoyi’s death. He called for a thorough investigation to identify the true perpetrators, asserting that the BJP does not engage in retributive politics.
