Delhi Assembly Election: 981 Candidates file nomination for 70 seats, scrutiny today

Voting is scheduled in the upcoming month of February and campaigning is in full swing.

New Delhi: The last day to file nominations for the Delhi Assembly election was yesterday. According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi, 981 candidates have filed a total of 1,521 nomination papers for the Delhi Assembly elections. Voting is scheduled in the upcoming month of February and campaigning is in full swing.

As per the details furnished by the office of CEO Delhi, a total of 680 nomination papers were filed on January 17, which was the last date of filing nominations. After the last day, CEO received total of 1521 papers filed by total of 981 candidates across 70 seats of Delhi.

The scrutiny of candidates, who have filed the nominations to contest in the Delhi Assembly Elections, will be done today by the Election Commission. However, the last date for withdrawal of nominations is January 20. Any Candidate can withdraw his or her nomination till January 20.

The Poll body said that the maximum number of nomination papers has been filed in the New Delhi Assembly constituency and a total of 29 candidates have filed 40 nomination papers for this seat. From the New Delhi seat, Arvind Kejriwal of AAP will be having a tough fight between BJP Candidate Pravesh Verma and Congress Candidate Sandeep Dixit.
